2002 SLT at a loss
I just bought a 2002 1500 slt with the 4.7 that needed a clutch. While replacing the clutch my buddy had noticed my front driver side axle was hanging out. We first thought it was because the retaining clip had broke or wasn't installed... and this is where all the problems started. After advance auto had given me 5 out of the 6 parts wrong/mislabled/ broken. The issue holding me up is the stub shaft does not fit in the differential. The splines that seat in the cv axle will fit in the differential but the splines made for the differential won't fit. Has anyone run into a problem like this? Are there multiple shafts available with different diameters? Any help would be great.
I apologize but I forgot an important piece of info. The stub shaft the truck came with was never install in the diff as it was two big and wouldn't fit in the splines. My concern is what are the chances to receive two shafts both won't fit the truck and look exactly alike. Would there be two different size shafts for different motor options? If not it seems like a much bigger problem?
