05 2500 trouble steering in 4wd
on dry pavement? this is a normal condition from a part time 4wd system. each tire and therefore each driveshaft turn at different speeds when rounding a corner. the driveshafts are locked together at the tcase. In an all wheel drive the ptu have clutches that slip to compensate....with part time 4wd the tires must slip....it can do this on slippery roads but not on dry pavement.
if this is the case...do not engage 4wd on dry pavement. If you really want to be easy on your 4wd system, turn it off during long trips at highway speed.

Thanks primem, sort of thought that would be the case. I was coming straight out of a muddy field and onto semi dry pavement. My only experience being with awd or off road 4wd, just wanted to confirm that everything was ok with this truck I just recently bought. Would never consider 4wd at speed. If I can go that fast, don't need 4wd. Again, thanks for the reply
