2006 Dodge Ram 1500 shimmy/vibration
I put a new set of tires on this truck, I recently purchased and can't get rid of the vibration. After an alignment and re-balancing the wheels twice before the alignment and twice after, each time zeroing out the machine, there is still a vibration that starts after 40 mph. These are "typical" aftermarket chrome rims. The shop feels that one or more of the wheels is causing the problem and suggested either changing the wheels or installing a 'damper' shock system.
If anyone has experience with this and some advice, it would be appreciated.

alignment will not fix a vibration.
if the vibration was not there before and is after new tires...its the tires.
have a shop with a road force balancer balance the tires. the machine can also measure runout of the rim for a bent rim. It will measure the road force and anything over 35 lbs is bad for a truck tire.
google radial force variation.
If the sidewall has excessive variation of stiffness around the tire...even if its perfectly balanced, it will create a shake.
this is common when you buy low quality tires.
