Hey guys, i haven't been on here luckily since i bought my truck. Till now. Yesterday after being in walmart for for 30 minutes i came out to start my truck. It started, ran for 2 seconds then died, it did this 3 times with no codes. I disconnected the battery and waited a minute. Connected and it ran fine. Its a 2006 1500 slt 4wd, at, 4.7l, 166,000 miles, any ideas?

Turn the key to run position, check for fuel pressure on the fuel rail. Might have lost the fuel pump. Mine died driving down the road with no prior warning.

Yep, happens to mine once in awhile. It has to do with the transponder in the key not mating with the receiver in the column. Just do what you did and you're good to go. At least for a while. Mine does that 2-4 times a year. A little inconvenient , but no big deal. I don't know a permanent fix, but it would probably involve a dealer and a lot of cash. I choose to live with it!

Three times is the giveaway for this problem. After that it locks you out. If it was the Fuel pump, it would sputter and die, and consecutive starts would result with a lot of cranking with sputtering. With this it runs smooth for a few seconds, then just stops.

Well that makes me feel better. Thats what i was suspecting as i have a key that doesn't have a chip and stays under the truck in case i lock my keys in, anyways if you start it with that key it does the same thing. I was worried it was the fuel pump at first though.
