Default drive shaft too short??

i have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 4 door short bed 4x4.
i was replacing the u joints and noticed the drive shaft was sticking out about 2 inches from the back of the trans. it looks like the previous owner put a drive shaft from a junk yard on the truck and its too short. also the u joints i got from the auto store didn't even come close to fitting. the u joints i found that worked were much smaller. i am looking into buying a camper and i'm thinking the drive shaft wont hold up. does anyone know the correct size drive shaft that is supposed to be on my truck??

No part numbers or anything. there is some numbers that are written in chalk that is why I think its from a junk yard.
