I'm getting ready to get some body work done on my 04 1500. I am in need of a new hood and tailgate. I'm curious as to what people opinions are on ordering from someone such as LMC Truck or Rock Auto, or any other place online. The body shop quoted me $700 for an OEM hood and $900 for an OEM Tailgate. Opinions and suggestions always welcomed. Also considering checking out some local scrap yards.

 

I would check Craigslist first. I'm in Toledo Ohio and see quite a few OEM tailgates that are for sale in the area. Usually someone has brought them to this area from Texas and have them listed as rust free. I believe they are in the Southgate MI area and ask $300. They are also complete with all the hardware attached. I also saw an OEM hood in Norwalk OH. Asking price was $150 and listed as great condition.

Always remember you get what you pay for. Price <> quality. If you want OEM quality, then be prepared to spend money.
