Removing Resonator and Emissions
Hi all. I plan on removing the resonator on my 04 Hemi Sport and I don't know much about these new fangled cars. Does removing the resonator and replacing it with a peice of 3" pipe harm the emissions at all? I would think it wouldn't, but then again who knows. Looking for a little rumble and don't want a new exhaust just yet.
THanks a lot,
Chris
***EDIT: After posting, I came up with a few more questions. Is this going to void my warranty? Is there any special bending that will need to be done (i.e. can I do it at home?) Will it mess with the computer? Will it be too little backpressure? Will there be any adverse effect on the truck at all?
Thanks again,
Chris

Lets see if I can answer those questions for you...
1. No it does not hurt the emissions at all.
2. I will only void the warranty if that section of the exhaust has problems such as rusting out. It WILL NOT void you powertrain, electricals, etc.
3. Let a muffler shop do it for a $30 or so, not sure what the going rate is, perhaps someone else can chime in.
4. No it will not affect the computer at all.
5. No it will not alter the back pressure. Back pressure is helpful in producing torque. The bigger exhaust will flow better at the sacrifice of lower end torque, but more upper end HP.
6. No adverse affects to your truck, but perhaps you will lose some MPG since you'll want to mash on the gas and hear that baby roar!
Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.
