Really need some advice here since I 1)Don't want to tear things out needlessly and 2)Don't need to throw more money down this hole of a truck any more than necessary and 3)need to vent over idiot mechanics..

Well weekend is here and began ripping about the rear end.
First though I need to describe what was the main noise/problem.
Truck started making a periodic "whoop" whoop" low and not really too loud.
got to the point where I could feel a fine vibration on the floor in the cab.
Thought about wheel bearings or drive shaft.
First though I figured I'd check the bearings. Drive shaft had no dents or spots where a weight might be. U joints weren't sloppy.
Sooooo tore into the rear wheels starting w/ drivers side which "seemed" to be sort of where things started.
Found out that the pads on the parking brake were COMPLETELY gone. Nothing but metal.
Now the "venting" part comes up about mechanics since not more than 6 months ago I had both rear discks redone.. Pads, rotors calipers...
Since there were no "parts" inside when I tore the drum open they HAD to be bad at that time..
Pad metal was completely rusted to the back plate ect..
THERE is NO WAY that happened in 6 months..
New rotors inside show no sign of pitting or gouging from parts.
VERY annoying..

Back to the noise and the bearings..Grabbed the hubs and "wiggled" them.
Both sides had a "teeny" "tiny" amount of up/down play.
NEED to know if ANY play is acceptable?
I know some will say since I've gone this far why not replace them..
got that.. but still not sure it is a bearing..
Some will say "well if you replace them, the brakes shoes then its not those"
mftmfmtmfmtmfmtmt... yes makes sense but would like some advice about the play.
Oh rear end is a limited slip differential if that matters....
Haynes quote on bearings:
"Try to move the axle flange up and down. If the axleshaft moves up and down, bearing wear is excessive"..
I'm talking myself into replacing them..

One other thing re: the rear drums.. One side has the adjuster on top, the other side on the bottom.. seems odd and isn't mentioned anywhere...
