I am have trouble with my air conditioner leaking freon. After adding about 1 to 1.5 cans of freon, the systems functions normally producing cold air. It will continue to produce cold air until I shut off the truck. Once I start the truck again, I can smell an odor coming from the vents for about 10 secs and the air being produced is no longer cold. I added a can of stop leak, but it did nothing. I am not well versed on A/C systems, but can freon leak only with the vehicle is shutdown? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

 

Recommend take it to an ac shop, they can put dye in the system and find the leak. Because you put stop leak, they may charge extra. And may require additional parts to be replaced to be able to warranty.
