Default Trouble removing tailgate

Trying to remove my tailgate to put a new one one and I cannot get the driver side off. I've been pounding on it with no luck. Tailgate rotates on it freely. Any recommendations? Really frustrated over this one piece.

Open the tailgate, unhook the cables and tilt forward about 70 degrees and lift from the right side I beleive.

I was able to get he passenger side off, but the driver side seems to be hung up on something.

Well, I was able to get it by angling it and taking the hinges off. I ended up replacing them anyway. But even once the tail gate was oof, I still couldn't get it to separate from the tailgate. Whew! Glad that's over with!
