Default Burning oil

2008 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 hemi with 80,000 miles on it. Between o-1200 miles on the oil change I have burned 4 quarts of oil. Now has 1500 miles on the oil change and burned off another 1 1/2 quarts. No visible signs around the motor, through the tail pipe or in the coolant. Took it to a dealer and they ran a test in it and said it was fine. Burning 5 1/2 quarts of oil with 1500 miles into an oil change is not fine to me. Suggestions?

inspect the spark plugs, if they have ash deposits, the valve stems seals may be leakings.

I would pull all the plugs and inspect them. Do a dry and wet compression test to verify the piston rings are not worn.

You wouldn't happen to be running Amsoil by any chance, would you? Regardless, if you haven't switched brands yet, try some different oil. You may be surprised.

I've tried a few brands. Also tried synthetic but nothing seems to slow it down.

I'll try that. Nothing else seems to be working and won't slow the burn down. Thanks
