I own a 2002 Dodge ram 1500 with a 4.7l v8.
about two weeks ago the oil pressure would drop then return to normal.
I drove it for those two weeks and no problem then no oil pressure and loud clicking noise from the engine so I pulled over and shut it off.
Got it toed to my house where my father says oil pumps out and no oil to the top of the engine.


We took it apart( timing chain cover, oil pan. etc) put it back together and filled all fluids that was drained.


started it and it ran well until engine got warm then oil pressure would drop and stay down and then a tapping noise happens. Note! I did have a noisy lifter for about three months.


if anyone can shed some light I would appreciate it.

 

Did you replace the oil pump? Your post does not say you did or did not, only you took the pan off.

 

Sorry. I did replace the oil pump i placed a little oil inside so it wasnt dry when starting
