Default Upper control arms; Aluminum or steel?

In the process of replacing the upper ball joints. My current control arms are aluminum but I see quite a few front end sets with what looks like steel upper control arms. Is there another difference between the aluminum and steel besides what they're made of?

I also see a couple sets that say "EXCLUDES EXTENDED CREW CAB (MEGA-CAB) MODELS". Are the Quad cab/Extended cabs different?

Quad cab is different than a megacab. Megacabs ride on 2500 frames and running gear, which is not interchangeable with your 1500.

Thanks HemiLonestar, I didn't realize there was a longer cab than the Quad. Would they have used the aluminum control arms on just the Quad cabs or would just depend on when it rolled off the assembly line?

1500 is a lighter duty suspension than a 2500
