Which power steering pump is best, mine is a snap ring
Hi! I noticed people have had probs over the years with their power steering pumps. Mine is shot now(157k, 2007 quad cab w 5.7 Hemi)
After all this time is there a pwr steering pump people prefer more than others? I am about to purchase one online and wanted to see if it even matters. Or if the flush is really whats most important. Or both? There been any techniques learned over time? Like what might now be the final word with power steering pumps, flushes, fluids, procedures, do's, dont's, etc?
The dealer wants the standard $270 here in SC. It comes w pulley, reservoir though. I see some way better prices out there but they're all for various name brands. I do like parts made by Cardone S. Just don't want to pay a fortune if I can avoid it. If I have to, I have to I guess. Rather do that than do this swap every 3, 4, 5, 6 months!
Some come with reservoir, some don't, some have pulley, some have all 3, pump, pulley and res. My reservoir seems fine. Pulley has a small chip on the outer edge, real small, maybe a half inch at most. I assume I can still rent that special plastic pulley puller tool from one of the big 4. Oh, and can you find any that already have a pulley installed on the pump? Haven't seen one like that myself.
I already have mine off, just waitin a few before I pull the trigger. Thanks for any opinions now a days, especially after all that's been learned.
