Default 05 vs 06 Ram 1500

After spending some time on the lot with these two great trucks, I have to say "Good Job Dodge" on the 06.

I know, first thing everyone will say is that the headlights don't look good or it looks too much like the dakota. Drive it. Really look at it decked out in it's chrome package and give it a chance.

Have a salesperson pull the 05 next to the 06 and give it a true walk around. Knock on the doors and see if you can hear the difference. Dodge put dampening pads in the doors, dash, and hood to quieten it. Notice when you open the hood that motor mounts are insulated now to cut down engine vibration. Open the doors and look for more rubber molding around them....same on the windshield.

The headlamps provided better visiblity at night.

Little things make a difference and the 06 has a bunch of them.

That's all I have to say about that.

I checked of the ford and Chevy 06 I wanted a full size pick-up and found what I
was looking for in the dodge and got more than I wanted for the money. I belive
the Ram has more room in the inside than both ford and chevy.

How does the new suspension ride compared to the 2005? I know my 2005 4x4 runs pretty stiff compared to the competition, but I prefer that type of ride compared to that of a F-150, which dives pretty hard any time I hit the brakes or take a hard turn.

I test drove the 06 on Sat and I totally agree with the improvements. When we stopped at a light I could hardly tell the motor was running. The ride was very tight as well. I rented an 05 a couple of moths ago and noticed a rougher ride and a lot of road noise. I like the new styling. To each his own but they definatly did make some serious improvements. I hope the MDS Hemi is all its cracked up to be!
BTW... they were both 4x4 QC's (05&06)

I have an '05, and the one factor that would make me want a '06, is the new coil-over suspension vs. the '05 torsion bars. Especially if you plan on installed a lift kit, I think the coil-over could be beneficial.

So how much weight does all this (and the new frame/suspension) add to one of the heaviest trucks already?
