Default After market stereo install

Hey guys, just a couple questions before I swap it out. Is the stereo in my 06 ram 1500 tied into any security system or anything? Just wanna make sure before I do the swap so I don't mess anything up. Thanks in advance

No. If you're swapping to an aftermarket and you have steering wheel controls you'll lose function unless you have the adapter module.

Ok good, no steering wheel controls. Heard from other people that swapping out the stereo could set off the security and lock the truck out so I'd have to take it to the dealer. Just wanted to make sure before hand. Thanks

What can happen if you try to upgrade to a fancier factory head unit (like a MyGig) is that you'll need a code or something flashed for it to work. Personally if I had an 06 I'd get a lockpick adapter and throw a MyGig in it. Built in hard drive, nav, plays DVD's, can view cameras, etc. One of the best things I did to my Charger, unfortunately my truck is too old and it won't work.

Thanks man, I looked them up. A bit out of my price range lol. I'm just throwing in my old stereo from a previous vehicle. Nothing fancy but it's got a USB port so I just play my mp3s from a flash drive
