Default Has anyone installed factory foglights

My truck did not come factory with fog lights, from what i read before dodge used the same wiring harness regardless of what options were installed iirc. So is the harness for the foglights there behind the bumper and i can just put in the factory light switch with the push for foglight? Its an '06 1500 slt.

Only way you'll know is to look and see if the harness is there. If it is, then you just need the lights, mounting hardware and switch, then a trip to the dealer to enable them (CAN bus they have to be turned on within the computer in order to function). If not, you'll need this kit:
Amazon Amazon
and then a trip to the dealer to enable them.

You might not need to go to the dealer.
On my 06 SLT Mega Cab I added a bumper and fog lights, added the proper swtich, and wam bam, fog lights worked.

I did not have lights installed in the factory bumper, nor did I have the right light switch,so I assume they were not part of the original build of the truck.

When I bought my '04, the previous owner had installed Hella lights in the ports for the factory fog lights. He had installed complete wiring, relays, fuses, and switch to operate them. The Hella's eventually cracked from road debris and burnt out. I bought some cheap oem copies fog lights off of eBay for 25-30 bucks. Imagine my surprise when I removed the Hella's and saw perfectly tucked and unused oem fog light plugs under there. Imagine my double surprise and pleasure when I went into the cab and just pulled the headlight switch out. Click and flash. Working fog lights without having to do anything else. I took all of that other wiring and switches from the previous guy out.

Try your switch, you may be pleasantly surprised. Crawl under your truck, you may be doubly surprised. Check eBay, you may be thrilled.

You got lucky then lol, normally they have to be enabled in the FCM to function.
