sounds like a lot of "i heard this about that" on this thread. Look no further, I've brought answers....from someone whos been there. If you'd like to spend too muc money, go with flex-a-lite. its a great product that will certainly do the job. Or, if you'd like to actually recoupe all your spendings (and then some) go with a fan pulled from a 3.7L Ford Taurus. Sounds crazy, but its a great fan that bolts right up. Look in the FAQ, theres a great write-up about it. I bought my Taurus fan on ebay and the adjustable controller from Jegs.com. Total spent was about $60 and I've noticed a little better throttle response, but more importantly, a 15% gain in mpg's. Install took about 2 hrs and required very very minimal fabrication (not even worthy of being called fabrication). If you have any questions about it, please ask.

Got my fan from a 93 Ford Taurus 3.8 Liter V6 at Pick and pull for 26 bucks, also pulled a bunch of relays while I was there for free. Got the fan controller from advanced auto parts for 17 bucks. Very easy install...

The Ford Taurus fan is the way to go if you are looking for a low cost, reliable electric fan. The fan usually runs in the $20 -$30 range and the controller just depends on how much you want to spend on it and how much control you want over your fan.

Also, talk about a blast from the past. Someone was using the search function to find this thread

Will the fan from a v-6 cool a v-8 well? I've been reading posts also and many are quoting air flow volumes. I'm a littlt confused on the whole issue but if it works I'd consider an e-fan.

Did anyone else notice this thread went from 2005 (post #9) to 2009 (post #10) overnight?

I think this one takes the cake for the oldest resurrected thread I've ever seen on any forum. That's saying a lot too, because I've been on several for like 11 - 12 years.

I have an image I use for these cases but it doesn't really do this one justice:

I have not heard of an electric fan giving you that much more power???? However, an Electric water pump would give you added power that you have stated.

Putting in a lower t-stat is good, but you'll need to re-program your ecu to work in conjunction with it(fan on/off temp settings)

Also, what type of headers are ou thinking will give you 10hp? Shorties???????? I dunno even with a blower they don't do a whole lot. Long tubes would really wake you up. I bet 15-20rwhp gain and about 30rwtq gain from LT's and a blower

no, I've seen dyno's before and after an e-fan at KRC, it frees up about 8-10 RWHP, and I agree with AF, I saw a good 1.5 mpg increase after I did the Flex-A-Lite.
If you get one that uses a probe and it's own thermostat, you can set it to turn on/off at any temp you like. So you don't have to mess with the ecu.

I've got the 180* thermostat and have set my fan to come on at about 170*...
