Default Side steps and rusted rocker panels.

I purchased a 2004 Dodge Ram Quad cab about a month ago. It has a 3” lift and i was wanting to add side steps for the wife and kids. The side rails i purchased has to brackets one that connects to the cab mounts and the other to the inside of the rocker panel. Anyways i get all the brackets attached and go to tighten up the bolts and the bolt that is in the rocker panel busted through because of the rust. Is there anyways to fix this? Or would it be possible to make a new mount for the slots under cab itself near the cab mounts?
