BF or Hankook
looking at new tires for my 2005 1500 reg cab short box.
stock size was 245 70 17. previous owner put 265 70 17’s on. i like the look of the 265’s.
im considering bf goodrich rugged terrains or hankook dynapro at-m rf 10. price is about the same. i need snow, rain and quiet performance. i do not offroad or see deep mud etc.
thoughts on either?

I took the stock Michelin P265/70R17's off after I bought my '05 and have run LT285/70R17 BFG KT/HO's ever since. Got almost 120K on the first set and have close to 50K on the 2nd. The BFG's have been good to me.
Having had the benefit of experience with both BFG and Hankook. The RF10, definitely, hands down the better tire. Especially given your criteria of snow rain quiet.
The BFG KO are also a good tire. I found them more suited to gravel and dirt work truck type tire. The BFG Rugged Terrain cannot hold a candle to the KO or the RF10.
In my experience with multitudes of tires between my work trucks and personal trucks, including: Michelin, BFG, Cooper, Yokohama, Bridgestone, Hankook, Goodyear ... They all make good tires. Some better than others for different things. Likewise I have my tire preferences for different things. Overall, risen to the top though is the RF10 as the Marvel Superhero of AT tires. Does everything extremely well in all seasons and conditions and are also quiet and long even wearing. If you've only got one truck and one set of tires, definitely get the Hankook DynaPro RF10 put on.
For your regular cab short box, the P rated will do just fine. The LT is not needed. If you like a firmer sidewall, firmer ride, firmer cornering, then go LT rated. The P tire is not soft at all, quite the contrary. Just mentioning the LT will feel different, even firmer, possibly too firm in the seat of the pants on that light truck. The LT rated RF10 also has deeper tread blocks, same pattern. There is quite a cost jump tho between the P and LT. Fyi, I runs the LT and air up or air down pending on what I am doing between leisure, towing, hauling, crawling.
I hope that helps in some way!

Great info, thank you.
BF definitely wins the popularity vote and mostly cause i feel they make good performing tires that look good. I did end up going with the Dynapro’s (non LT). The reviews on various forums and tire sites were really good. Tire guy recommended them over the BF rugged based on my needs (snow, rain, noise, longevity). I havent seen them in person but it looks like they have an overall aggressive appearence as well. This will be my first experience with Hankook, hope it’s a good one.

You made the right choice with the Dynapro. You will be very happy with them.
BFG are popular because they are prolific with sponsorship and marketing. They are everywhere. The Hankook are a lesser known only because they don't do so much of that. Imho BFG, is compensating for being the lesser quality tire, with exception of the KO of course. Hankook tires are top shelf quality at practical price. You will not be disappointed.
