4.7L V8 redline????
What is the redline on the 4.7L v8? Tach does not have any"red line" I can see.. I'm not going to "hot rod" this truck, but, I'd like to know what the redline IS. With the 3.92 rear end and the 20" wheels, I notice that even under "moderate" acceleration, I'm easily up in the 3500 rpm range as I row through the first few gears and of course higher rpms if I'm getting on it.. I know I can drive to a degree "by feel and sound" (that is, when running an engine hard, you can normally tell when you are asking for all an engine "has to give"), but, I'd still like to know.. Is this possibly a non-issue due to a rev-limiter?? Thanks!
the engine makes all its power at 4800 rpm's. i've had mine to 5300 rpm's give or take a couple of hundred, and no rev-limiter yet. So to answer your question the rev-limiter is designed to keep you from damaging you engine, but since yourengine makes its power at an estimated 6 or 7 hundred rpm less there is really no need to bump the limiter.
