Like 4 out of 10 times when I try to start it, it blows the oil cap off and has smoke everywhere I know my fuel pump is bad and my exhaust manifold gasket is bad but what could cause it to shoot the cap off
This can be cause by a plugged PCV sytem, or more likely severe blowby, where combustion gasses blow the oil out of the crakcase and up to the valve covers. This could be caused by broken rings or severe wear. I would not drive the it. Have it towed to a good mechanic who can do compression tests and other inspections to determine the problem. If you have severe blowby, an engine swap might be your best course of action, but find out first what the problem is.
I replaced my pcv valve and got a thicker cap it’s idoling fine now me and my grandpa have a shop to check compression compression is still good could just a clogged pcv valve cause that much pressure to build up and blow the cap off?
