Default header "coating"

just wanted opinions on heat coating on headers. I've talked to a bunch of people about this subject (never on here though) i'd say it's pretty even between worthless and a must have... I asked this guy who owns a race shop, he's an ex pro street "dragster" I told him i was looking for my truck and he said the uncoated ones will do just fine and that the coated ones just last longer if you're into driving it hard on the weekends. I appreciate any help. Also is there a thread with under view pictures of exhaust setups???

Don't know a lot about Hemi headers, but know a good amount about Chevelle headers, so the same premis should apply. The "Jet-hot" or cerami-coated help to dissapate heat quicker then the painted headers. They will also keep that shine longer then painted, as the paint will burn off. The paint will burn off, but that won't effect the performance of the header.

Its up to you. Personally, I wouldn't want to spring the extra $$$ on ceramic, especially since under the hood of your Hemi you don't see them as you would in a show car. But, its up to you. The coating has no effect on the header other then the heat dissapation quality, and it lightens your wallet even further.

The coated headers actually retain the heat inside the pipe and make the exhaust exiting speed faster. Hotter gasses move faster. They also help with longevity. To be honest, I don't think that there would be that much of a difference between regular SS headers and ceramic coated, performance wise on our trucks. Based on looks, the ceramic coated ones are the way to go.

I have jet hot coated long tube headers on my trans am. I reccomend them to anyone. They guarantee their coatings to look brand new for 2 years and they'll re-coat them at no charge other than shipping.

Its nice being able to drive my car hard, and within 10 minutes of turning the engine off, be able to touch the headers without burning my hand. Helps out if you do frequent work on it
