running rich
I have an 03 dodge ram 1500 5.7l hemi, all of a sudden it starts running really rough, extremely low idle, misfiring, would throw the red lightning bolt on every now and then, so first I cleaned the throttle body and checked my air filter, that helped a tiny bit not then went back to running just as bad as before, the alternator and battery are good, but when I ohm the alternator it ohms at 12.6-13.7 with lights and ac on and high rev, never goes higher. next was checking around the engine and laid my hand on the passenger side top of the plug wires and got a little tingle so I replaced those but still had the miss. so I replaced all 16 plugs and it seemed to be a little bit beter but still had the bad miss. pulled the upstream 02 sensor and it didn't change, it also has a bad backfire when you put a load on it or barely gas it a little more than normal it pops. I sprayed all around the engine with brakekleen to see if I could find a leak but couldn't find one. so I replaced the throttle body oring and it seemed like it helped. was actually able to get the truck to spin the tires but when I let off the gas it popped again. its throwing the red lightning bolt a lot more now comes on for a second or two then goes off. which is supposed to do with the throttle body. its throwing a code for too rich bank 1. now is it possible that there might be a broken valve spring? and bank one is the drivers side correct? I haven't checked to see if I still get shocked by the wires as well. was gonna take the valve cover off on the drivers side in the morning, figured id see if I can get anyones help on here.
