02 ram 1500 4.7 ticking
So recently my truck started making a ticking noise in the driverside valve cover, so I immediately thought bad lifter. I started off by putting an engine flush in then changing the oil, nothing seemed to change so then I got some lifters and put those in, still nothing changed and I'm completely lost. Heres the details of the noise, it taps on startup then at about 1500/2000 rpm it changes to like a whistling or whining noise, then exactly at 4000 rpm all the noises stop and dont come back until I kill it and let it sit for a few minutes then start it again, if anyone knows whats going on here please lmk.

All I can tell you is I bought my ‘05 with a 4.7 in 2007 with 18K on the odo and it’s done that same thing since I bought it. Ticks a bit on start-up when cold, makes that whine for 15-20 seconds and then it’s gone. Got 174K on it now so I’m not overly worried about it!
