Default 9.25 carrier abs tone ring install

Have to change carrier. On 2002 4x4 the cross pin broke and after inspection the carrier had wobbled out holes. I was curious how to remove the and ring and install it in the new carrier. Also any other advice on changing carrier is appreciated.

To remover the carrier you need to baxk off the side adjusters that put preload on the carrier bearings. The ring gear is bolted on. The bolts might be left hand threads but not sure. Loosen the bolts and heat the gear with a torch then hammer on the bolts to get it off the carrier. If its a limited slip you might need bolts to compress the side spider gears to free the pin. Good luck and update with pictures is helpful for other members and people searching for help

Im not sure about removing the tone ring. I would think it would come off once the ring gear is removed. Might need to pry it off or heat it up to make removal easier. Should go back on the same way. I would just keep track of which side faced in/out and install the same way, might not make a difference.
