Default Auto Up/Down Drivers Window

I have a 2007 Ram 1500 and the auto feature on the drivers window continues to run when the window is fully down or fully up. I have to hit the switch again to stop the window motor from running. Is this feature controlled by the motor, limit switches, or by the switch itself?

The only thing I know is the switch has a nipple on it to hold the switch but should disengage when it is down.
