Default Using Microphone from other vehicle

Is there any reason I couldn't use a headliner microphone from another vehicle model? For all purposes it's just a microphone with 2 wires? It will be used with an aftermarket stereo. Similar to the one in the image below.

Thanks

Don't see a reason why not as long as the wiring is the same.

Didn't work, was sounding muffled. After doing more research it seems the stock microphones go through some type of amplifier or something for them to work properly.

Probably like speakers, have to match impedance.
