door switch in the latch?

door switch in the latch?
Just bought a 2004 2500. Opening the driver door doesn't turn on the interior lights, but the passenger side does.
Looking around the perimeter of the cab frame, I don't see a plunger switch... so is that function integrated into the latch on the inside of the door?
Also the door is sagging, I will need to rebuild the hinge as well... any good experiences with hinge kits?
Thanks!

Yes the switch is in the latch. You have a broken wire in the rubber boot. You can fix it, but it will break again in a different spot. I lost power mirrors on my driver door, and rear passenger door no longer activates the lights, and won’t power lock. Fixed that one twice, not going to touch it again! Don’t know about the hinges.

what he said.
the best way to do the repair is to get a connector repair kit from the dealer. the kit will come with wires long enough to feed thru the a-pillar loom. remove the old pins from the connector...insert the new pins and run the wire....the splices then can be made in the door in an area where the wire doesn't flex. electrical tape up the wires before you feed them thru the loom. this will help prevent damage from 10 years of flexing.

Success ! The latch checked out ok. The wiring in the door to the connector checked out. When I ground the wire on the cab side of the connector, still no light. Pulled the kick panel off and examined the harness. Saw a shinny piece of tape on the harness.... sure enough, the govt prep must have cut the wire so they could covertly open that door. I just used a butt crimp connector, and presto - interior lights when I open the door !
