So I have a 2004 ram with a 4.7 that has a broke spark plug. I have done had it to the shop and they broke an extractor trying to get it out. So now the head must come off the shop wanted way to much to do the work so I have chosen to do it myself. So now to my question is there a way to take off the head without having to redo the timing?

 

Yes you can pull the head without having to redo all the timing. You will need to keep the tensioners wedged tight and keep your chain tight. Should be plenty of youtube videos if you need more help.
