TIPM vs FCM
2005 Ram 2500 5.9 diesel. It was running fine, then I took the TIPM out after the lights went, found the burnt trace and repaired it in the IPM. Installed it, lights work fine, but now the fuel pump relay is ticking repeatedly, like the signal light sound, and the truck won't start. Gauges are dead as well. All the warning lights work as they should, but the gauges themselves are dead. Took the IPM back out to see if I had bent a pin or something, carefully re-assembled it, and re-installed it. No difference. I ordered a replacement IPM, proper part number, installed it, and nothing changed. The only thing I didn't replace was the FCM, which I transferred over from the unit I replaced. From what I can find out so far, the FCM has nothing to do with the fuel pump or gauges . . . up a tree here and really, really don't want to have to pay the tow bill and have it repaired at a shop . . . we all know how expensive that can get.
