Default power limit of stock 4.7L block

I plan to add the usual bolt-ons soon onto my '03 QC 4.7L, then eventually get into the heads a little, and maybe a s/c. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the stock block can handle?

Alot. I'm not sure of an exact number but you ought to see some of the S/C Dakotas around. As a side note, I heard the manager of a speed shop say he'd rather build a blown 4.7 than the Hemi because the bottom end has been holding up better. Take that for what you will, second hand information.

I had heard that, too. But also saw that one of the s/c companies (I think Kenne Bell) quit making the 4.7L s/c kit due to the motor not holding up. I'll keep an eye on the Dakotas from now on. Is that the same exact 4.7L?
Realistically, I'd be happy to get my Ram well into the 14s on street tires. I'd be thrilled with 13s but am probably dreaming.

I doubt it was the bottom end as much as it was tuning issues. Detonation can leave a rotating assembly lying in the street. If there was a chance of that happening w/ whatever software Kenne Bell was using, that is likely the reason for pulling the product...Not the overall strength of the bottom end.

I agree. I don't remember where I heard that comment about the bottom end not holding up. It was probably just one person's opinion but it stuck in my head.
