4Hi gear automatically shifting back to 2w

I just got my 05 1500 QC Hemi 4x4 with 12k miles on it and I noticed that after I shift it to 4HI it goes back to 2w sometimes on its own. I first thought that I might not be sliding the shifter far back enough but even when I shift it all the way back it still happens. Any clues?????
