Default Dodge quietly admits 9.25 diff pinion seal defective

Dodge has put out a revised seal for the 9.25 differential pinion.

Original P/N: 52070340AA

New P/N: 52070340AB

It may also be possible that there is a 'Secret Warranty'
that DaimlerChrysler Area Service Representatives
may now be authorized to give payment for
if your out of warranty 9.25 differential has failed because of the poor life of the original
part number seal.

This has been standard Chrysler practice in the past, but only if the
customer complains past the dealership and is armed with info and part numbers.

Thanks for the heads up. Any idea of when the new seals went into the trucks from the factory?

Kinda reminds me of the door seal issue.

Experienced this already. I noticed more noise than usual and sure enough.... voila blown seal. Reminds me of the joke with the penguin at the car dealership

This can't be all the 9.25's? I've never had a problem with my '99 and it's got 152K on the clock, only changed diff fluid every now and then, never any leaks. The LS clutches blew out long ago, only makes it act more like a one-wheel wonder, just never had the patience to get the special tool and pull the carrier to put a new clutch pack in it. Thsi is the first I've heard of a pinion seal problem on these.
