2008 1500 4.7 (dual spark plug) SINGLE knock sensor?!
Hi all,
My little brothers 4.7 overheated and got a few stuck lifters a while back and we bought him a crate engine and installed it at home. All went well but the new engine just didn't have the same power. We found a knock sensor code for sensor #1 only. So I pull the intake manifold tonight to replace the sensors only to realize its not bolted to the block. It was laying on top of the transmission. Yes, I'm a quite ashamed to admit it. I guess one missed thing isn't too bad for doing it in the yard.
I'm ready to put this back together and see how it runs but there is only one sensor. I traced it back to the plug and there's only one wire. Everything I can find says it should be two? Everything except for a few parts stores shows two. And if I just go with the one, which side of the block does it go on? I don't remember where it was on the old engine. Maybe because its an 08 and its the first year of the new 4.7? I'm hoping someone here knows something I'm missing. Thank you in advance!
I need to get new spark plugs, and found out today that there is 2 plugs per cylinder in the '08 4.7l. Stock part numbers are saying they are Bosch plugs. But I was always told Champion plugs are best for Chrysler engines. Also its stating copper for the top plugs and iridium plugs are for the bottom plugs. What are the best plugs to put in? I don't remember how to start my own tread, sorry.
You're probably getting the whole Champion thing for 03-08 hemis, those do work better for them. You are correct, the upper and lower plugs are different simply because the lower ones are harder to get to; if you look in your owners manual you'll see the they have different replacement intervals. What you want for yours is:
