The loose connector looks like the one that goes the to the factory underhood light...do you have one? Never seen what's on the terminal; is it actually hooked in to the terminal?

Hey thanks for the guess - no I do not have an under hood light - it might just be that
Will check the truck later today
The plug sitting on the Battery + Red cap was removed from the Orange and Blue wires connected to the socket in the wiring harness

It should be less than $20 for a new one. I had to replace mine when I owned my truck.

Didn't know such a thing existed for Dakotas. Mind posting pics?

Mine is a RAM 2500 not a Dokota
Found the connector to have 12Vdc full time - expect that it is fused someplace in the wiring
Yes must have been an under hood light which my model never had
Added a LED under hood light with power switch - works great

Lol I was also going to say that the light I was talking about was for the Ram, not Dakota. Make sure the light doesn't fall off the holder. That happened to my truck when I owned it, and I ended up with a dead battery

Actually, I wasn't reading thoroughly, forgot where I was posting and thought I was on a Dakota thread. LOL I tend to wander all over.
