Default Mopar CIA = Ticking Noise

Hey guys, I just installed the Mopar CIA on my 05 Reg Cab. Its the first mod I've done to the truck. It fit great and looks neat too, but it makes some weird ticking noise when at a steady cruise under a slight load. It acutally sounds like an exhaust leak. The truck was dead quiet before installing this CIA. It sounds near sucking under acceleration, but this ticking noise is very annoying. Has anyone experienced this with any CIA??

Thanks

The CIA is monitering you... they think you are a spy...

Now if you had installed a CAI and you were getting a tick, I would say maybe it was a lifter, or a valve spring...

[sm=funnypostabove.gif] HAHA, CIA.. It's CAI = Cold Air Induction system.. As for the ticking sound, I don't know what it could be. Yes it could be a lifter or something of that sort, but wouldn't have anything to do with your induction system. I would make sure that it is not rubbing against something like perhaps the side of the engine bay, or a hose or something that would mimic the sound of ticking as the engine shakes/torques. That is the only thing that I can see would cause a ticking noise from the install of a CAI.

I had the same issue when I installed my CAI. I did some searching on here and found that its actually part of your emissions system that allows the sound to come out. I can't remember all of the specifics, but basically, you're hearing the right side of the engine firing and its resonating thru your CAI pipe. All that plastic stuff you took off was a resonator box that dampened that sound. You'll get used to it. I don't even notice it on mine anymore. There IS a modification you can make, but it makes your truck unable to pass emissions, and honestly, I wouldn't mess with it cause nobody knows the long term effects on the engine.

It's an exhaust gas recirc valve ticking. You couldn't hear it before due to the factory intake sound compressor. Now you hear it tick. The '03 guys don't hear it, but '04+ have the valve. Nothing is wrong, and nothing you can do about it really either.

yea i can hear is slightly too once i installed my Mopar CAI.

Nothing to worry about....you replaced plastic with metal and metal resonates vibrations,,,thats all.

I cant realy notice it anymore though with my exhaust added because now i hear nothing but growls from the truck.
