should I mention I’ve worked on probably 500 ram trucks in past few years. Not talking out of my ***. I speak from actual experience
Maybe....but you're also the one who thought the 360 ended in 2002....just sayin....

The dealership wants $2,800 (half the value of the car), so I'm going to trade it in and pay a couple thousand for a newer vehicle somewhere else. I decided not to sell it private since I could run into issues with the buyer and the engine slowly leaking oil, which is then burning on the exhaust. My dad's truck is an hour and a half away from me at an outdoor storage unit, and I have no way of getting him to sign the title (if we can even find it) since he's at a nursing home. It also needs a new hood, brake lines, and a bunch of other stuff which I am not mechanically inclined to do. Who knows, maybe I can get it back and running one day...

Sorry to hear about your dad. A lot depends on the state he has the truck titled in. If you want to get your dads truck running again, because it's your dads, first you need to find out who has power of attorney for him. This would probably be you or a sibling. Who ever has the power to make decisions for him. They can sign for your dad. If he doesn't have a POA, then you need to get one pronto! Eventually, he will not be able to make coherent decisions. Not counting the truck, you'll be able to give him a better quality of life. I had POA for both parents and no issues. My dad actually felt better since he didn't have to make decisions. I always discussed things with him, but it was on me to decide. Now, you can look for the title. If you can't find it, the registration can often let you file for a lost title. The POA will let you make the legal actions necessary.

It may give your dad some comfort to know his truck will run again and won't rot away because he can't care for it.

I live in Massachusetts, and he has no POA. I think once the nursing homes start to allow family to visit I'll talk to him about getting his truck back to life. It's just a matter of time...
