Default Speaker System-NEED HELP

My 05 Ram QC came with the 4 speaker option. I noticed that some packages offer a 7 speaker system. I was wondering if anyone has added the 3 speakers in the dash to their system. Is it easy to do or would it be better to take it to Circut City or someplace like that. Also, was it worth the money to add the 3 extra speakers. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I think the speakers in the dash are the hardest to get to because you have to remove the whole dash.

I went from a four speaker system to a six speaker... I have an after market headunit, wih three preouts. One set of preouts runs the door speakers (through half of an amp), the second set runs my rear speakers (through the other half of the amp), the third set are for the subwoofer 9through a seperate amp), and then I have two speakers in the dash, one near each of the a pillars, running of the headunits amplified outputs. The second st of amplified outputs on the headunit are not utilised.

I have JL audio speakers all the way around (plus 2 JL 12' subs), except for dash speakers which are memphis midrande tweeters. The effect of this setup is that it sounds like the person doing the vocls is sitting on your dash, whilst you are surounded by the musicians. You also get very good spatial placememnt of sound effects, for those instances I am listening to say my Apollo 13 CD which has the audio from several scenes in the movie interspersed with the music. When you listen to the short circuit traveling through the circuit boards it sounds like it is moving through the cab...

I also have an iPOD control box that interfaces with the headunit and operates much as a CD changer. It works better than most aftermarket iPOD adapters because it displays ID3 tag info on the headunit screen, and allows you to search the library using the headuniit's buttons.

Is it easy to install?... I dunno, had the local stereo shop do it. It sounds great though, other than I could do with a little more depth to the bass, but i am told the only way to do that is to completly give up all the space behind my seats, which i am not willing at this point to do.

the 7 speaker has nothing to do with the Uconnect feature (hands free)

Its called the Infinity Audio upgrade which includes a 6-disc changer and 7 speakers with an infinity amp....and little Infinity door pillar emblems....

It came with my 05 ram laramie......theres 1 speaker per door and then 3 tweeters across the top of the dash along the windshield.
I replaced my speakers and head unit and added a sub though.

I wouldnt spend the money or the hassle of adding 3 speakers if you dont already have them. The stock speakers even with the infinity package suck and thats why i replaced all 7 of my speakers.

if you do not have the 7 speakers....just buy some nice 6x9 components with crossovers for the doors and you will be more than happy!

I was going by what crutchfield was saying. But it is very easy to add two more speakers in the dash and they are cheap to. I put them in to help with the highs I got 2 12's with a 1200wat amp.
