Default Installing Dual Zone Climate Control?

Just something I'm sitting here thinking about at random, Does Dodge use the same HVAC box behind the dash in all vehicles of a given generation/year?

I'm just curious if the ability to have dual zone climate control exists by default, or if to add it to a truck that doesn't have it, does the entire HVAC box need to be replaced? What would be involved in adding dual zone to a truck that didn't come with it?

Again, just a question of curiosity more than actually wanting to go ahead and do it.... I Was mainly just wondering what would happen if I plugged in a dual zone climate control without doing anything else....would it work at all? break stuff? What would happen?

It wouldn't work since the single zone doesn't have the split door to vary temp side to side. Out of curiosity I looked up the parts book. There are two different sections for sales codes HAA (single zone) and HAD (dual zone). The basic structure part number is the same, as well as most of the ancillary pieces but there are some differences. I imagine an existing single could be made to work as a dual if you were able to add all the necessary hard parts. The link for the factory parts book should still be floating around on here somewhere. If not let me know. Then you can make a direct comparison.

Looks like all the wiring is plugged and play I swapped cabs from an 06 Laramie but kept my dash all the extra connectors are behind the radio bezel for heated seats rear window ect... so once I get the dual zone control I will know I also added heated seats and passenger power seats.... I think we had to put a pin in the connector under the seat the rest is already a part of the trucks original harness just not used
