Default Shifter stuck in park unless a heavy weight person is sitting in the drivers seat

I have a weird problem
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 sxt with a 5.7 hemi , 2 wheel drive

My wife can not get it to come out of park but when I try it it works every time. I am a lot heavier then her. That is the only difference.
We have tested it out a few times. We do the exact same start up process but it will not move for her but works for me every time .

Any ideas what would cause my issue?
Just does not make sense that my weight allows it to function correctly but a person lighter then me can not get the shifter to move out of park
We have tried it running and not running with the key on and the brake pedal pushed . Every time it would work for me but not her

Thanks for the help

She is probably not pressing down hard enough on the brake pedal to unlock the shifter mechanism.

She is pushing on the brake pedal firmly isn't she? Is the release in the column working well? There is a rubber boot around the shift lever. You can peel it open and see a little aluminum lever that locks the shifter. I had one that kept sticking and some WD-40 took care of the problem.

I know this might seem a bit of a simple thing to miss, but is she pulling the column shifter down into gear correctly? Like is she trying to yank it down, or is she doing it the correct way by pulling it towards her and then down into drive or whatever mode she needs?
