Default Nv3500 02 ram 4.7L other people with nv3500. Start in first or second gear empty?

Basically first gear is so short in my truck that it takes me forever to get up to speed from a stoplight or whatever if I take off in first, I ride first up to about 10 mph (3.55 in the rear end) then I’ll clutch in and wait for the revs to drop down to almost idle and shift to second then I can get moving good. I’ve had the truck since nov. for awhile I was starting out in second gear unless I was loaded or on a hill. But it’s like when I start off in second gear it’s always like I can feel the clutch like vibrating right before I take off. If I rev the truck up more and hold the Revs I can get it to not do it so bad.

i put the clutch in when I bought it, new clutch pressure plate pilot bearing throwout everything but the flywheel is new on the clutch

Most of my manual trans experience before this truck was a big commercial diesel, and I always started out in second or third in that thing. But that was diesel. But in my truck I just can’t shift fast enough from first to second because the truck will “buck” if I don’t let the revs drop down. Taking off in second I get good acceleration but I feel like I’m killing my clutch because it’s like I can feel it “hopping” right when the truck takes off. And I really don’t know wtf to do because if I’m on flat land it just takes me forever to get up to speed in 1st because the gears are so much different.
