throttle body upgrade
I am looking at doing some performance upgrades. I already have a flowmaster exhaust, cold air intake. I am looking for any information on replacing my throttle body with a BBK throttle body P/N 1723. and also a new crank pulley P/N 501150. Can any one give some knowledge of these upgrades

1. If the stock TB is 70MM this will not be worth it.
2. If your stocker is less taht 70MM, but your intake is also less that 70MM, then once again it is not worth it, unless you port your intake.
3. If 1 and 2 do not apply, in other words the stock TB is smaller than 70MM and the intake is at least 70MM then it is probably worth it, but gains will be minimal.
I did a TB upgrade on a Ram Air Firebird I had once. The thing I really liked about it was the additional air that was flowing made a nice hissing sound! Some did not like it but I did.
As for the crank pulley once again minimal, but an easy upgrade.
Bottom line is all bolt ons are usually minimal unless you are talking N2O or Super Chargers. One bolt on alone you usually will not feel a difference, but add them all up then yes. Even more so if you keep a theme to the bolt ons, such as air flow, in and outgoing. Airflow has always been a cheap way to squeeze out a few extra HP. That is why John Milner pulled his header plugs before going to Paradise rd.
Cool points for anyone who knows what that last sentance means.....
One of the featured vendors has this to say about it.... I knew there was a featured vendor from another post I saw a while back.

Throttle body spacers are very expensive paper weights. And the high pitch whistle is enough to drive you nuts. I am sure you can go to Ebay and find tons of them, cheap, from people like me who bought them in spite of common sense.

I have a FAST MAN 70MM and felt it was one of the best mods I have done... Now I have done allot of mods but at the time of my FM TB install I did feel a noticable gain in exceloration. I would not make it the first mod but it would be in the top 5 of things to do list... 4.56 gears would be NUMBER 1 on the list!
