2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4x4 - Sunroof Problem
Hey! Just recently, my sunroof hasn't been operating as normal. It will not open, close or vent unless I press the button about 8-10 times. I imagine this will eventually leave me stuck in an open or closed position soon. I couldn't find an associated fuse. Any thoughts?
I haven't had too much luck. Once I get a chance, I am going to bring down the overhead console to test with a voltmeter to see if power is going to switch. If not, then I'll have a good direction to get it solved. If it has power, then it will likely be the switch. I've had no luck locating one. I'll update this post once I run some tests.
For anyone with this issue, here is the latest:
I used a 12 volt tester with the clamp on the positive. When i touched each of the wires in the harness, this is what happened:
Orange/Brown = Opened the sunroofOrange/Blue = Closed the sunroofOrange/Green = Nothing (ground) Orange/Yellow = Vent opened
So, it wasn't an issue with a fuse or motor. It was great seeing it function again, but when I plugged the wiring harness back into the switch and pressed each of the buttons, nothing worked.
This likely means the issue is with the switch. I tried cleaning the prongs on the switch with a light sandpaper and some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip just in case there was corrosion, but it still didn't work.
My next attempt will be to check the solders on the switch, IF I can figure out how to remove the switch from the console. It's set in there pretty good. I repaired a remotestart remote with a soldering iron, so I'm hoping I will be just as lucky.
If anyone finds a solution, please reply to this post with details.
