Default Serv4wd light on

Hey guys I'm writing this because I'm not exactly sure what or where I should be looking at what caused this light.
it started a few months ago with the truck not being able to go into 4wd while in motion, had to stop completely.
then about a month tb ago the serv4wd light came on. Shut teuck off turned it back on and it went away but would come on intermittently.
now its on permanently and of course cant fo into 4wd.
Any insight or tips would be appreciated.
I've tried looking up some stuff but to no help.
Thanks

Sounds like you have an electric shift transfer case. I'd get under there and clean all the connections and make sure the mechanism isn't bound up with dirt and old grease. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to do some wiring/functional testing to figure out what isn't working properly. There is probably a scan tool that might get you started in the right direction, but likely not included in the cheaper ones. I use a bluetooth obd2 with my phone app, but I haven't had one of those electric transfer cases - so I can't tell you if its included or not.
