'07 2500 rear wheel bearing questions
Vehicle is an '07.5 2500 4x4 with 6.7 CTD
Is it considered SOP to replace the rear axle spindle nut each time you disassemble? I ask because the little toothed metal keeper that holds the square stock in place is going to wind up getting pressed into the plastic on the nut in basically the same spot.
Here's what I'm really curious about: is it even possible for the square stock ("woodruff key") to walk all the way out even if the toothed keeper fell out? Seems to me it might be designed such that it'd hit the backside of the shaft flange before it came out enough to allow the spindle nut to turn on its own? Or am I mistaken?
