35 inch tires on stock 2005 2500 17inch rims?
I just bought a new 2005 2500 4x4 Cummins Short Box Quad Cab. Anyways I was hoping to put 35 inch tires on the truck and get away with using the stock rims. I have seen 2 dealer show trucks both with stock supension except for front coil spacers with 35's. BUT both of them had aftermarket rims. I know I can put 35 inch tires on 17x8.5 rims but the stock Dodge rims are 17x8's I believe, so can they work with the 35's?
Some tire shops say yes some say no. Some websites say 8-11 for the required rim range and some say 8.5-11. Does anybody have any experience one way or another? Will the ride quality or load range really suffer from squeezing them on the rims also? Is there a 35 inch tire that might work where one might not also?
THANKS for your help. It is nice to get some advise when someone is not trying to sell you into something.

RE: 35 inch tires on stock 2005 2500 17inch rims?
you can run a 35" tire on stock rims , a bunch of guys down here in TX run BFG 315/70r17 work just fine. Some of them run with a 2" level kit some do not. If you were going to run 35's i would spend the extra 150-200 dollars for the level kit (or spacers). Just to be percise a 8" rim can hold up to a 12.50 wide tire. no wider though or will wear funny, and have to keep your air pressure around 40psi.

Sweet 315's seem like the way to go. I checked on tire rack and I am looking about $200 a tire there plus about $25 shipping per tire. Going to check some local places and see if I can get a better deal. Really the 315's are I found are almost exactly the size of the 35's so no problems there. I am going to go with the leveler kit installed just to make sure everything sits nice.
