Default Both key / remotes, suddenly not working right?????

Hello all,

I have a 2008 Ram 1500. Yesterday when leaving work, the key / remote wouldn't unlock my truck. I tried locking and unlocking, and got nothing. I manually opened the door with the key, and went on my way. When I got home, I went inside and got my second key, and got the same results. I stood in the driveway, and mashed lock, unlock, unlock, etc. Every once in a while, it would randomly work. Okay, so I figured it must be weak batteries. Changed out both batteries, and still the same.

Did some researching online, and pulled the IOD fuse for 10 minutes. Still the same, nothing changed. Tried holding lock and unlock at the same time, to reprogram / resync the key. Still the same.

This morning, I pulled the IOD fuse again, for 30 minutes. Still the same. Currently, if I hold down the unlock button and walk around the truck, it will unlock after about 3 to 5 seconds. Same with lock. If I hold down lock for about 5 seconds and walk around the truck, the horn will honk, lights flash, and it will lock. Both keys seem to be operating identical. I changed the batteries, cleaned the batter terminals, etc.

Since this happened all of a sudden, and it's happening with both keys, I'm guessing it's not the keys. What else should I be looking at? Is there a key module somewhere, that could be going bad?

In 2008's the SKREEM integrates security and remote functions. It's possible that portion of the module is failing.

A reset might help things. Pull off the neg battery terminal and let it sit for a few hours.

Well, yesterday and today, both remotes are working normal again. I'm hoping that pulling the IOD fuse for 10 minutes, allowed the modules to reset.
