Default 02 4.7L ram 1500, parasitic drain problem diagnosis.

I have a issue somewhere with a short to ground or something of the like, my truck can sit for weeks with the battery unhooked and crank right up if I connect it, however if I leave it sitting with the battery connected it will kill the battery, used to take a few days now it’s gotten much worse (colder outside also which doesn’t help) it’ll die sometimes if it’s just not running with the battery connected for a few hours

i used a multi meter to see how much draw there was on the battery with everything off, it was high around 1 amp draw I believe (it’s been a few days the actual number could be off) then with the meter connected I pulled every fuse out one by one putting one back in before I pulled the next, and I pulled every fuse/ relay I could find and the draw never went away.

So I’m thinking maybe something with the alternator wiring circuit possibly? The alternator itself is about 2 years old I’m guessing so not very old so I’m thinking it’s more likely some kind of wiring issue with the alternator harness somewhere in the truck.

Did you pull all the inside fuses as well as underhood? I have a Dakota so not sure where those are located on the Ram.

Any new or aftermarket additions to the electrical system? Radio, lighting?
