2008 ram 1500 5.7 cranks, starts, kicks into gear but no movement
Hey y’all new guy here got a problem with me 2008 ram 1500 5.7 has about 230,000 on the dash so Wednesday got up to work truck turned on I let it heat up for about an hr (I am in Wisconsin right now) drove to work truck was riding fine no problems, come out of work same thing truck turns on like nothing I let it heat up a bit n drive back to my hotel I park it and turn it off I come up for less than 30 minutes (we were supposed to be back home for Christmas) when I go to turn it on truck just cranks no start I’m thinking it can’t be my battery cause it’s not that ticking noice, I know I’m not out of gas I had about 3/4 of a tank, I don’t know what it is at this point so I just keep cranking thinking maybe it’s just acting up then the battery dies I go get a new one truck turns on now like nothing then another problem pops up when I put the gear on drive and give it gas I have no response what so ever n a red lighting bolt pops up on my dash so again I start looking into it searching it up and everything leads to it possibly being a bad throttle body (electric) so I go buy one out of desperation thinking this will fix it, I buy it, put it on (there wasn’t any instructions on having to relearn it or anything so I didn’t do that) truck still won’t run n the bolt is still showing so finally I give in n have it towed to a near by shop the mechanic says he’s getting a accelerator pedal sensor code on the computer so I go buy that part n he puts it on does an oil change n nothing still he runs the computer again and he says the throttle isn’t connecting with the pedal sensor so he checks for bad wires or a bad ground but everything checks out good he thinks at this point it could be a bad pcm but before I go spend that kind of money I would like to give this group a shot me and my cousins are just trying to make it back to texas for Christmas any help with be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance!
